Cartago: Las Ruinas #1: Church of Ujarras 30-1

That's Paul in this top photo, or as he is know here, Pablo. He is the man of pants, that's how I think of him. He has very trendy pants. That's all he wears - pants! He's just a really trendy guy! Actually, no Ticos here wear shorts, so maybe he's onto something.

What a presence! It would be a beautiful place to film

Olivia y yo

Don Jorge telling secrets, but my zoom caught him. I have really great zoom. I had to delete my really stalkerish pics, too bad cause they were pretty impressive

Cartago: Basilica de la Virgen de los Angeles 30-1

Quite stunning

Tried to catch the priest in action

Mass started so we had to leave!

Down there is the special place where people have access to a sort of "holy water". It stems from the legend of la Negrita, a figurine who was found on a rock in a river. This figurine was taken away, and even locked in a chapel, but it kept being found back in its spot on the rock in the river. The gist is that the river is sacred, and this water flows from what once was a river. (Don't take my word for it-look it up! That's what I'm going to do. Sometimes my Spanish translations are more like a game of Telephone)
